Next-gen Update for Fallout 4 is Coming, But Not Just Yet
Bethesda has confirmed that it is still working on a next-gen update for Fallout 4, but its release remains distant.
Fallout 4 will not receive the promised update for the latest consoles anytime soon. Bethesda has informed players that the announced next-gen patch needs more time before it will be released in 2024 (via X/Twitter).
The lack of an exact release date might have worried the gamers, but in fact fans welcomed the announcement with relief. After all, the developers have announced plans to release an update of the "fourth" Fallout more than a year ago, but during that time they basically kept quiet about the project.
Fans of the series expected information on the unofficial Fallout day, which is October 23. However, they were met with disappointment, which some people explained by the delayed release of Starfield. After all, Bethesda was giving all the attention to this title (by the way, it will remain so for a long time to come), which could have translated into delays in work on other projects. Other fans suspected that the company wanted to coincide the debut of the update with the release of the licensed Fallout TV show next year (quite a few gamers still believe in this theory).
Of course, there were also rumors of the update's cancellation. Admittedly, they were not repeated often, but after a year without information, one could wonder if these rumors were not credible after all. Fortunately, today Bethesda put an end to the speculation, although let's hope that the project really just needs "a little" more time.
Reminder: Fallout 4 next-gen update is to be available for free on PC, PS5 and XSX/S. It will introduce support for 4K resolution and performance mode on consoles, as well as an increase in the frame rate limit. Arguably, the game will also receive a visual facelift, but Bethesda is not mentioning that for now.
