New World Servers Under Siege; Hundreds of Thousands in Game and Queuing

New World has become very popular, which also brings some problems. Many players could not get on the servers.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • At the peak moment New World was launched by over 700,000 players on Steam;
  • In Europe alone, there were more than 400 thousand people waiting in queues;
  • The creators want to solve this problem by launching more servers.

Yesterday marked the release of the long-awaited MMO New World. The game attracted crowds of players, which unfortunately brought serious problems for the developers. Already yesterday, just after the launch we could hear the disappointed voices of fans who were not even able to get on the servers. With time, the troubles have only intensified.

Today we already know that at the peak moment, the game was launched by over 700 thousand people on Steam alone. This impressive result exceeded the expectations of the devs at Amazon Games, who were desperately launching new servers. However, it did not change the situation. Currently, user reviews on Steam are mixed - only 48% of them are positive. Most of the negativity relates to the problems the game experienced when it debuted.

This is hardly surprising, considering how many people were stuck in queues and were unable to test the title. According to New World Status, in Europe alone, more than 400,000 people found themselves in such a situation. Some of these players were forced to wait up to several hours to join the game. This caused frustration for many fans, who exchanged their impressions and memes about the problems on Reddit.

It's also worth mentioning how many players some of the servers have attracted. The US West Valhalla, which is available in the US area and focuses on PvP gameplay, is particularly popular. At the peak moment, there were more than 24 thousand people waiting in line for it. Fortunately, the situation is slowly stabilizing and fewer and fewer servers are struggling with the problem of long queues.

However, we can still find exceptional examples, such as Utopia in the APAC region. There are currently 5636 players in the queue for this server. The expected time to join the game is a dizzying 62 hours.

Fortunately, the creators have already announced on Twitter that they will continue to battle these problems. The main way to solve them will of course be adding more servers, which will relieve the most besieged ones. The developers have also enabled players to move their characters to other worlds at no charge. This feature will be active for the next two weeks.

We can only hope that in the near future players will finally be able to freely join the game in New World. Currently, however, it is better to monitor the situation with the servers. Their list with constantly updated data on the number of players can be found on New World Status.
