New Van Helsing Movie in the Works

We know who will shoot, produce and write the new Van Helsing movie and based on the names we've heard, we can say that there is something to look forward to. The project will involve some truly talented Hollywood filmmakers.

If you didn't know there was going to be a new movie about Van Helsing, then... you do now. And although we know almost nothing about it in terms of artistic direction or details of the plot, Hollywood Reporter provided a couple of names that will be responsible for making the movie. They give hope for a really interesting, maybe even original show.

A guarantee of quality is certainly James Wan, who will take care of the film's production. He is famous for his excellent two parts of the horror movie The Conjuring, as well as for his pleasantly campy Aquaman, proudly representing DC's cinematic universe. There is also Michael Clear - a man strongly associated with horror films from the last few years (The Nun, The Curse of La Llorona, Annabelle: Creation).

Behind the camera of the new Van Helsing we will find Julius Avery, a filmmaker you probably don't associate by name because there is no breakthrough hit in his filmography, although one title of his is striking. We are talking about Operation Overlord, the (unofficial) cinematic heir to the Wolfenstein video game series. Nazis, experiments, zombies, great special effects, and a wild ride - this is the best way to describe the movie. The director is not afraid of direct means of expression.

The script for the film has already been written and Eric Pearson is responsible for it. In his career he wrote mainly for MCU, including on such productions as Agent Carter, Thor: Ragnarok or Black Widow. He is also responsible for the script for the upcoming Monsterverse movie - Godzilla vs. Kong.

And that's all we can write about the new horror movie about Van Helsing for now. We can't even give you the expected premiere date. Avery is currently improving Pearson's script and only then will he start directing. So it remains to wait patiently for more details.

His adventure with journalism began with a personal blog, the name of which is no longer worth quoting. Then he interpreted Iranian dramas and the Joker, writing for cinematography journal, which, sadly, no longer exists. His writing credentials include a degree in film studies, but his thesis was strictly devoted to video games. He has been writing for Gamepressure since March 2020, first writing a lot about movies, then in the newsroom, and eventually, he became a specialist in everything. He currently edits and writes articles and features. A long-time enthusiast of the most bizarre indie games and arthouse cinema. He idolizes surrealism and postmodernism. He appreciates the power of absurdity. Which is probably why he also tried soccer refereeing for 2 years (with so-so results). He tends to over-philosophize, so watch out.
