New Stronghold is Will be Powered by Unreal Engine 5
Developers from Firefly Studios revealed another portion of details about the new Stronghold game. It is powered by Unreal Engine 5, but we will have to wait a long time for its release.
Today Firefly Studios revealed new information about the next installment of Stronghold. The as yet unnamed project is currently in pre-production and is powered by Unreal Engine 5 (thus the developers will abandon their own Vision Engine technology). Many indications are that it will take the studio about three years to develop it (they have been working on it for at least few months now).
The future of Stronghold
The creators did not reveal too many details about the upcoming title. From their statements it seems that it will again offer an isometric view and the atmosphere characteristic for previous installments.
- Developers do not exclude that the next installment will feature some mechanics related to fleet management. Nevertheless, they announce that the emphasis is still on building your own fortress, and whether such an element will appear in the final product depends on whether it will fit in with the rest of the game.
- They're also very complimentary about fantasy vibes. It is possible that one day we will get another spin-off of the series set in such setting.
- They are also aware that many Stronghold users prefer to play in the mode in which only siege machines are able to inflict damage on the walls.
- Firefly Studios has a lot of hopes towards the cooperation with Devolver Digital, which became the studio's owner in 2021.
