New Scarlet & Violet Pokemon Wiglett Revealed in Unique Presentation
The Pokemon Company hosted a unique presentation called the Pokemon Ecological Survey of the new region in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, revealing the new Pokemon: Wiglett.
In a unique new presentation by The Pokemon Company, a mysterious new Pokemon was revealed to be in the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet games. Its name is Wiglett, and just like the name suggests it is a lot like the original Pokemon Diglett. This new Pokemon shares many similarities to the Ground-Type Pokemon in that it burrows underground, and has a big red nose. But according to this presentation, it is more than just a regional variant.
This information was revealed in a totally unique way, with the Pokemon Company hosting a website that would allow users to join a Pokemon Ecological Survey. The presentation pretended as if the user was a part of a video call with Pokemon ecologists exploring the Paldea region through short video clips of various Pokemon, culminating in visiting the beach, where Wiglett resides. If you want to see the presentation for yourself, it would help to be able to read Japanese, but you can find the website here. If you only want the Wiglett reveal, Serebii uploaded the video below.
While only somewhat interactive, this is a totally unheard-of method of revealing new Pokemon information, and certainly is more engaging than just releasing a new trailer. The Ecological Survey is reminiscent of the latest Pokemon game, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, where the player would travel across the Hisui region, taking notes on and studying the various wild Pokemon. If any features like that appear in Scarlet and Violet, it could persuade some Legends: Arceus fans to try out the new game as well.
There is very little information about Wiglett available so far. The official Scarlet and Violet website has yet to add Wiglett, which would hopefully tell us more about its potential typing and abilities. Since this Pokemon was found on the beach, near the water, it’s possible that it could be a water type. A comment on Serebii’s video from user Sara Robinson suggested that Wiglett’s design might be based on a Spotted Garden Eel. This makes a lot of sense, with the only key difference being that Wiglett seems to live on land rather than underwater.
What do you think of this reveal? Will Wiglett evolve into Wugtrio? Or something else entirely? Leave a comment below letting us know your thoughts!
