New Mech in Helldivers 2 Divided Players; For Some, It’s Marvel; for Others, Useless Scrap

Emancipator collected in a short period of time not only loyal fans, but also die-hard enemies. In the end, it's hard to say whether it's OP or useless.

The EXO-49 Emancipator Exosuit mech was introduced to Helldivers 2 some time ago. Fans first dug up leaks about it in April, and now - practically a month later - we can enjoy it in the proper gameplay. At this moment, unfortunately, a certain problem arises...

...because the Emancipator turned out to be more controversial than we could have assumed. We will encounter intense debates in the helldivers' barracks no matter where we look.

You can either adore or despise it

An interesting trend was noticed among others by one of the Reddit users, who - wanting to learn more about EXO-49 - paid attention to the extreme opinions of players already visible on YouTube. A video openly criticizing exosuit, calling it a "monstrosity," was preceded by material praising its combat advantages.

The Emancipator is equipped with dual automatic cannons (75 rounds each) and allows the player to trample small opponents in close quarters. Furthermore, the mech is resistant to fire attacks and can overcome any other damage with the right tactics.

In theory, this should make it a useful suit for helldivers, although not everyone is pleased with the gift from Arrowhead. Players consider it as too weak compared to other available stratagems, believing that EXO-49 was nerfed before its official release.

Another problem, besides the disturbed balance in Helldivers 2, would be the difficult aiming. Theoretically speaking, the game shouldn't cause any problems here - it's different when a helldiver encounters bugs on his way.

Complainers must lie

On the other side of the barricade are players satisfied with the role that EXO-49 fulfills. According to comments left in another thread, the mech works perfectly in a well-coordinated team, where each soldier has a specific list of tasks. The Emancipator, however, isn't suitable for solo entertainment - it needs the support of a team.

I'm genuinely convinced people calling the new mech worthless are either straight up lying or don't understand that [Helldivers 2] it's a squad game where one player cannot cover evey scenario.

The developers from Arrowhead Game Studios will decide which opinion to address in due time. Will EXO-49 remain as it was introduced? Or maybe it will actually be "balanced" in favor of those who enjoy fighting alone?
