New game from the creator of Super Meat Boy

Edmund McMillen has announced The Legend of Bum-bo – a puzzle game-RPG hybrid. No further details are known at this point, but we can expect them in the following months.

Given the picture, the Legend of Bum-bo will most likely be as subtle as McMillen’s previous works.

Edmund McMillen is one the more renowned indie devs, famous mainly for the two highly popular productions: the 2010’s challenging platformer Super Meat Boy and the The Binding of Isaac, released the following year. Currently, McMillen is working on a sequel to the former and, apparently, something more. A post appeared on the official website of The Binding of Isaac, informing of a renewed cooperation between McMillen and James Id (this happened previously during the development of The Fingered), this time to deliver a “turn-based puzzle RPG type thingy” – The Legend of Bum-bo. The creators refrained from providing any more detailed information, but the game will most likely be somehow related to The Binding, as can be surmised from the fact that the announcement appeared where it appeared and that the creator of Super Meat Boy pointed it out himself. Furthermore, coin collecting will presumably play a significant role in the game, given the undertitle and the logo.

Further details concerning The Legend of Bum-bo are to be announced in the following months via “cryptic messages” on McMillen’s, Id’s, as well as Ridiculon’s (constituting of Jon Evans and Matthias Bossi) Twitter. Ridiculon will be, once again, handling the soundtrack of the game (their previous works include the soundtrack to The Binding of Issac, among others)
