New Details About Phantom Blade Zero
We've learned new details about Phantom Blade Zero, the promising soulslike that charmed the audience at the recent PlayStation Showcase.
In a Q&A session held on the Discord channel of Phantom Blade Zero, S-Game, the studio working on the project provided more details about the title. Recall that it turned out to be one of the nicest surprises of the PS Showcase.
- Phantom Blade Zero will not contain microtransactions or other elements typical of the gacha genre. Counter-intuitively, this is an important declaration, as S-Game is a Chinese studio that has so far specialized in mobile games.
- The issue of difficulty level was also raised. Although Phantom Blade Zero draws inspiration from the challenging gameplay of the Dark Souls series, the developers assured fans that they are trying to find the right balance. The game will feature strong elements of the soulslike genre, but will not focus solely on high difficulty levels and harsh penalties for mistakes. The goal is to make the game accessible enough for players to enjoy without requiring lightning-fast reflexes or superhuman dexterity.
- S-Game has confirmed that Phantom Blade Zero will take full advantage of PlayStation 5's DualSense controller, including haptic vibration.
- The developers have also expressed interest in releasing an artbook that would serve as a source of information about the game's world and its development process.
- Plot-wise, the game is to some extent a remake of an older game - Rainblood Town of Death, but with an expanded scenario. The content known from the original is expected to be only a small fraction of what will be found in Phantom Blade Zero.
Recall that the game's release date has not yet been announced. The game is expected to hit PC and PlayStation 5.
