Netflix Confirms The Witcher Premiere Date
We have finally found out roughly when to expect the premiere of Netflix' The Witcher. The production will debut in the last quarter of this year.
Ted Sarandos, Netflix' head of content, revealed the date of premiere of the TV adaptation of the adventures of Geralt of Rivia. He informed that The Witcher series will be released in the fourth quarter of this year. Let us remind you that the first season will consist of eight episodes, all of which will be made available on the same day.
Here, we'd like to remind about the recent interview with Henry Cavill (Geralt) published by the Men's Health magazine. There, the actor revealed that he had to get up at 3 a.m. during the production, as the shooting often lasted 15-16 hours a day. On top of that, he also had to spend some time putting on his make-up and had two-hour sessions in the gym.
We venture to say that we are currently witnessing the beginning of the golden period of the fantasy genre on television. A few days ago, the eighth season of the Game on Throne was launched, and HBO is already working on a spin-off entitled The Long Night.
Amazon, on the other hand, is working on a series set in the Lord of the Rings universe. There are also plans to adapt the cycle of novels The Wheel of Time, which will be shot in September this year. Showtime, on the other hand, intends to transfer to the screen a series of Kingslayer Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss.
Netflix' The Witcher will debut before the whole competition, when the viewers, having watched the last season of the Games of Thrones, will be looking for something new and similar. We heartily hope that the show will live up to the high expectations.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that The Witcher's production crew has recently arrived in Poland for shooting. For a few days, they were working in the vicinity of the Ogrodzieniec Castle.
