Naval combat comes to Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord via DLC this June
Today during the Future Games Showcase, a trailer for War Sails, the upcoming DLC for Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord showcased naval combat and a new faction.

Finally, players have news on the upcoming DLC for Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord. The new DLC was revealed in a trailer during today’s Future Games Show. If you’d like to watch the full two-hour livestream which showcased fifty-five different games, I recommend it. But for more highlights, like the revival of Painkiller and a new gameplay trailer for FBC: Firebreak, stick to Gamepressure’s highlights. The new DLC for Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord is called War Sails and arrives on June 17th.
Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord DLC revealed in new trailer
As I sat down to watch the Future Games Show today, I couldn’t help but notice the enormous presence of fans talking about Mount & Blade in the live chat. There were over ten thousand people watching the showcase, but even half an hour before the stream started, hundreds of people were hyping themselves up for the DLC reveal. Good thing they were not disappointed, like the unfortunate souls who are still asking for news on Hollow Knight: Silksong in every video game showcase livestream on the planet. There was none of that today.
Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord is developed by TaleWorlds Entertainment and was originally released back in 2022. This is the first DLC for the RPG strategy game, and it will bring a whole new faction as well as naval combat. The appropriately named War Sails trailer focused on ship-to-ship combat. Soldiers fired arrows across other ships, and others rammed into each other to board and duke it out in melee. For those unfamiliar with the game, like I was before today, Mount & Blade 2 is a medieval sandbox that lets players explore and conquer a massive map in real-time strategic battles while also leading their armies into battle in skill-based combat.
The naval combat looks great, but this trailer also introduces a new faction: the Nords. It’s not hard to tell that this faction is inspired by Vikings, and their ships, weapons, and armor show it too. Between this new faction, which players can either join or challenge, an expanded world, and the ability to construct a navy, there will be a lot more to accomplish when the DLC launches this summer on June 17th.
