Multiplayer in ETS2 and ATS Will Get Mod Support

SCS Software is preparing changes to the multiplayer mode in Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. Convoy is to „finally” enable us to play with fan-made mods.

Since last month, Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator enable us to play with other virtual drivers in the Convoy online co-op mode. Players have welcomed this new feature and the entire update 14.1, although it is still a de facto test version with some limitations. SCS Software revealed that it plans, among other things, to increase the maximum number of players per Convoy session and add support for fan modifications.

Currently, Convoy allows for a maximum of eight players to play together. We don't know what number the developers are aiming for, but a post on the official website of SCS Software mentions that the current "small" limit is due to the testing nature of the multiplayer mode. This suggests that the developers are thinking about a much larger group. For now, the team is working on fine-tuning the optimization and "better moderation tools." As for fan mods, the obvious problem here is the synchronization of sessions of players using different modifications.

The developers have indicated that these are not changes that we will see in the near future. SCS Software now has more DLCs for ATSon its hands, which will enable us to explore the mountainous areas of Wyoming. Recently, we had a chance to see the gameplay presenting the content of this expansion, and the latest entry on the official blog of the studio presented the capital of the region - Cheyenne.
