Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord - Auto Resolve Annoys Players

Bannerlord from TaleWorlds is still popular, with over 50,000 users playing at the same time. No wonder it's on the lips of many. One of the hottest topics raised by the community is the problem of automatic battle resolving, which has accompanied the series for many years.

IN A NUTSHELL

  • Players complain about the problem with automatic battle resolving.
  • This option often causes absurdly high losses.
  • This is not a new problem, however, as it has already been present in the previous installments of the series.
  • Modder come to players' aid.

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord from TaleWorlds, one of the most famous early access launches of the year, is not losing its popularity and thousands of people play it every day. With such a number of users, creators also have to take into account a lot of criticism, especially since the title is still in early access. One aspect of the game that annoys the community is the problem with automatic battle resolving. This option often generates much more losses among our troops than it should, which is especially noticeable when our battle-hardened army faces a group of common bandits.

One of the extreme, but definitely not isolated, cases is the situation presented above by Reddit user HectorTheAllmighty. An army of 39 battle-hardened warriors in a clash with one bandit (lvl 1) has suffered losses. A high level (lvl 6) cavalry unit was lost. Bannerlord's players are certainly aware that it is not easy to train such a unit, and every loss of this type is severe.

There are many more examples of extremely unsuccessful auto-resolved battles in Mount & Blade 2, in which experienced soldiers are killed in battle against several low-level opponents. One of the victims of the unfair auto resolve system is user The-_Nox, which shared a screeenshot from the game.

Users do not hide their dissatisfaction.

j1ffster:

"Its always the top tier guys too, I mean I'd be little pissed losing a couple of recruits to 6 looters from my army of 100, but it's always Khan's guard and heavy horse archers."

Ifaptopokemon:

"I might be okay with Auto-resolve killing one or two recruits here or there BUT the fact that I'm losing Tier 5 and Tier 6 elite units in armies of 200+ with over 100 skill in Tactics... I never use Auto-resolve anymore."

However, long-time fans of the series are certainly not surprised by this state of affairs, as the problem dates back to first installments. Similar debates have take place in relation to Mount & Blade: Warband, where the unmodified version of the game also faced the same problem. When asked if we can use the auto-resolve feature to our advantage, Reddit user Soyuz_ provided a definitive answer 5 years ago:

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA no.

According to some members of the community, this is a deliberate effort by the creators who try to slow down player's progress and force them to take part in battles in person.

Frustrated fans of the series come to the aid of modders, who also noticed the problem. Simulations Fix - Advanced Autoresolve changes the automatic battle system for both us and AI-controlled characters. The modification takes into account bonuses from tactical and leadership skills. The most important change is the removal of most of the RNG-based damage calculation from the auto-resolve equation.
