„More Bots Than Players” in Stormwind. WoW Streamer Shows Problem First-hand
World of Warcraft is facing another wave of bots, which is perfectly visible in the Alliance capital Stormwind. Players are paying attention to the problem and the scale in which it manifests itself. There are supposed to be more bots than real characters.
The problem of bots in World of Warcraft has been familiar to players for many years, and the recent situation with the Season of Discovery servers indicates that there's currently no improvement. This can be particularly observed in the Alliance's capital, Stormwind, where a heightened movement of mage bots traveling to and from the trainer of the Enchanting profession has been observed. Some commentators suggest that there are more bots there than players.
A plague of bots that cannot be hidden
About two days ago, Blizzard decided to reduce the number of layers on Season of Discovery servers from eight to even two. Layers were required because of the large number of players in order to reduce queues, and players could access their chosen servers. It seems that there are fewer players interested in playing Season of Discovery, but the removal of most layers has highlighted the issue that the mentioned version of World of Warcraft Classic is struggling with.
Streamer Vixacious posted a video on his YouTube channel showing a series of bots going to the Enchanting coach. The player noticed that the bots use three distinct paths, but all of them ultimately lead to the same location, and you can observe how successive characters with nonsensical names are making their way to the building where the NPC is situated. Commenters expressed their disgust at the situation in the video and on Reddit:
There are more bots than players in Stormwind.

The amount of auction house bots in Stormwind is insane. Reporting them won't do anything.

Hey, as long as they pay, Blizzard is happy.

The longer Blizzard allows this, the better excuse they have to release the WoW Token at some point. History repeats itself.
- benderbg
The problem is serious, and players recognize that Season of Discovery has simply become another target for bots, and the reduced number of layers has only served to exacerbate the problem of gold-farming cheaters. Perhaps user benderbg is right, and Classic's seasonal servers will join other versions of the game offering WoW Token for in-game gold. It seems unlikely at this point, but the same was thought about Wrath of the Lich King Classic.
