Modder Improves Textures in GTA Trilogy - Definitive Edition
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition met with huge criticism from fans of the series, but one modder decided to improve the visual side of GTA: San Andreas' remaster.
UPDATE:
nigeez, the mod's author, has given us permission to host a mirror for his project on our FTP:
- A mod that improves textures in the new version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas included in the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition compilation is now available on Nexus Mod;
- In it, modder nigeez focuses on improving the appearance of roads, pavements, sand, mud or rocks.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, a compilation of refreshed versions of three iconic installments of the famous series by Rockstar Games, did not have the best launch. The technical condition of each game included in the set leaves a lot to be desired. Modder by the handle nigeez decided to take matters into his own hands and started working on a mod that improves the visual side of the remastered Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The first effects of his work are available on Nexus Mods.
Nigeez doesn't plan to change all the textures in the game, instead he wants to focus on the most noticeable ones. The project titled GTA SA Project Texture Overhaul at the moment focuses on improving the appearance of main roads, highways, and sidewalks, as well as sand, mud, concrete, or rock textures. The mod is now available for download, although its author emphasizes that the work is still in progress, so there may still be problems after installation. The project currently consists of 85 new textures, and there are plans for many more.
Installing the new content requires downloading the mod from Nexus Mods, then copying all files with the .pak extension into your game directory (GTASA\Gameface\Content\Paks\~mods). Deleting them undoes the changes.
In parallel, the developers at Grove Street Games are also working on improving the technical condition of the compilation. Rockstar Games has apologized for all the bugs which purchasers encountered in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition. At the same time, the devs announced the release of updates aimed at improving the set's quality - the first of them is already available.
