Microtransactions in Diablo Immortal Sparked Review Bombing
Diablo Immortal is getting a ton of negative reviews on Metacritic. It is one of the lowest rated games in Blizzard's history.
- Review bombing of Diablo Immortal took place on Metacritic;
- The game has an average player rating of 0.8/10;
- The situation looks different on App Store and Google Play, where the title receives mostly praise.
Diablo Immortal debuted on the market four days ago and the dust slowly settled after the premiere. However, more and more negative opinions about the game started to appear online.
Currently it is one of the lowest rated Blizzard games on Metacritic. Only two productions can boast a worse score: World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic and Warcraft III: Reforged.
Flood of negative reviews
Diablo Immortal enjoys a huge popularity but along with it there is a growing number of unflattering opinions about the game. Most of them can be found on Metacritic, where the title currently has an average rating of 0.8/10.
Of course, we are talking about the reviews by players, whose actions can be described as review bombing. The service was flooded with ratings at the level of 0/10 or 1/10.
In the comments we can find a lot of similar objections. First of all, they don't like microtransactions used in the title. Diablo Immortal is just another pay-to-win production and a money-making machine, they claim.
Among the sources of outrage is the fact that in order to "max out" a character without spending their savings, a normal player would have to spend as much as 10 years of their life.
Of course, you can reach into your wallet instead. In that case, however, we would have to spend as much as $110,000 on Legendary Jewels, which seems almost absurd.
Other players are happy
Nevertheless, it is worth asking ourselves whether we should consider the rating on Metacritic as a true reflection of the moods of all players. This service has repeatedly been used for review bombing by people who have not even had contact with the rated production.
Meanwhile, onApp Store a completely different atmosphere prevails. Ratings from store users who have actually downloaded the game enable is to boast a score of 4.7/5. It is also the most popular free item available on the store.
In the American Google Play the players are even more "generous" and rate the title at 4.3/5.
