MicroProse Surprises With Double Announcement: Silent Depth 2: Pacific and Rise of Piracy
MicroProse has announced two more titles in which we will steer various ships. The company will develop Silent Depth 2: Pacific, and publish Rise of Piracy.
You were wondering what's up with the legendary MicroProse, which before its reactivation created, among other things, the first two parts of the Sid Meier's Civilization strategy game series? The company has shared new information, so we know what further games are in its publishing plans.
Silent Depth 2: Pacific - announcement
MicroProse is developing a submarine simulator called Silent Depth 2: Pacific. The game's action will be set during World War II in the waters of the Pacific. The player, as the commander of the vessel, in the moment of danger will have to manage virtually everything - prepare torpedoes for firing, fire the cannon at the enemy, and at the same time control the ship and decide when to submerge and surface.
The developers say that the battles in the Pacific Ocean will be made realistic by, among other things, changing weather and a "special" damage system - missiles fired by the enemy can destroy individual systems of our ship, which can, for example, force us to flee.
A short trailer of the game (available below), on which you can take a look at the sea battles and the machines themselves has also been released.
The previous installment was developed and released by a completely different studio, Codeknitters. Its work, titled Silent Depth 3D Submarine Simulation has met with a moderate reception from the players. On Steam 56% of the less than 60 reviews issued are positive. The game has also come out for mobile devices.
Publisher of Rise of Piracy
The second new piece of information is this one regarding Rise of Piracy. MicroProse will be the publisher of this game, which has been developed by a single developer since 2018. The game was supposed to debut in early access on Steam a long time ago, so hopefully with MicroProse's help it will happen sooner rather than later.
Rise of Piracy is a real-time strategy game in which we will climb the career ladder as a ship captain.. At the beginning, the player will receive only a small vessel and a handful of coins, but over time he can become an important person. Economic success can be achieved through trade and cooperation with various factions, or by attacking other ships and raking in the loot from them. Piracy, however, is to be a completely optional mechanic.
The fleet development will also be aided by a diplomacy system and the hiring of more crew members, who will come in handy during abortions, for example. The game is to offer over a dozen ships at the beginning of early access, and additional content, including new factions, islands and modes, will be introduced to the game in (free) updates. It's worth mentioning that the title will offer single player and multiplayer modes.
