Metro Last Light Complete Edition vs Redux – Gameplay
There are some changes in the Redux edition of Metro Last Light that mainly concern difficulty and quality of life improvements. They include:
- Difficulty Modes – Redux allows the player to switch between Spartan and Survival modes. The Spartan difficulty is easier, with simpler stealth and ample resources allowing for a more dynamic playstyle. This is the only mode available in the original. Redux also adds Survival, which lowers the amount of available weapons and ammunition. Moreover, it improves the AI of enemies.
- Less achievements – Some trophies were removed in Redux. It features 49 achievements to obtain, while the Complete Edition has 70.
- Better controls and aiming.
Metro Last Light Complete Edition vs Redux – Graphics
The Metro Last Light Redux introduced some changes to the graphics:
- Engine performance improvements - it features better textures and visibly different lightning effects.
- Redux Redux is much lighter than Complete Edition, which is controversial among fans; some prefer the darker graphics as they believe it fits the atmosphere of the game more, while others appreciate improved visibility.
- There are bloom effects and lens flare in Redux that some players have reported to be tiring on the eyes.
Complete Edition or Redux – Which one should I choose?
Ultimately, the differences between the two versions aren’t very significant and both have their fans. A strong argument for the Redux version is the QOL improvements that make the gameplay less frustrating.
Keep in mind that Metro Last Light Complete Edition is free on Steam at the moment, which means you can experience it first and then decide if you are interested in the changes in the Redux version without risk.
