Metro in Cyberpunk 2077 - Modders Finish CD Projekt's Work
If you missed means of transport other than cars or motorcycles in Cyberpunk 2077, modders come to the rescue. Here's a mod called Metro System and it adds exactly what you hope for.
From now on, if you feel like it, you can take a ride on the subway in Cyberpunk 2077. However, it won't be thanks to CD Projekt RED, but a modder by the handle KeanuWheeze. His modification can be found on Nexus Mods website under this link.
As we can read in the description of Metro System, the mod adds nineteen train stations to the game, which were designed by KeanuWheeze, a smooth transition from TPP to FPP view and the lack of loading screens, which can make it difficult to admire Night City during the ride.
How to use the new transportation system? Simply head to one of the fast travel points. A sign will then appear on the screen, informing you of the arrival of the next train. After that, all you have to do is approach the train car and voila - we can explore Night City while riding the subway.

After releasing his creation, the modder keeps updating and improving it. Under the post on Reddit, where information about Metro System was shared, we can find this comment:
"I just tested it extensively, he added lots of things that were definitely not there before. Elevators. Waiting rooms next to the tracks with NPCs inside. It's highly elaborate and cleverly done.
He [KeanuWheeze - ed. note] also seems to have thought of possible issues. When I got attacked by a gang, the station had big red writing on it (rather than green), it wouldn't permit me to enter while being under attack. Because if it did, it'd probably cause serious issues with the game's engine," wrote Veenendaler wrote.
At the end it's worth mentioning that Cyberpunk 2077 was supposed to offer functioning railway, but CD Projekt RED dropped the concept. This was obviously due to the fact that the developers were facing a deadline, which had been delayed several times before.
