Russian state news agency RIA Novosti has reported that the country's interior ministry has placed Dmitry Glukhovsky on the list of wanted criminals. The forty-two-year-old writer and journalist was born in Moscow and in 2002 published the bestselling book Metro 2033, which has been turned into a video game.
Why is Glukhovsky being prosecuted?
The writer specified on his Telegram that the aforementioned institution is convinced that he violated Article 207.3 of the Russian Criminal Code, which prohibits public disparagement of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
- Glukhovsky has publicly opposed the Russian army's invasion of Ukraine since the beginning on his Instagram and called for it to stop.
- Author of Metro reported on Telegram that despite being placed on the wanted list, he has not changed his position on the war in Ukraine and is willing to repeat everything that made him considered a "criminal".
A new Metro game?
In November 2020, studio 4A Games confirmed that it is working on the next installment of the Metro series for PC, PS5 and XSX/S.
