Aircraft and Airports Coming to Lauded Transport Tycoon Heir [Update]
The long-announced update with airplanes is heading to Mashinky, and it's on the final stretch. This is another step towards the release of this warmly received game.
Update
As announced, Mashinky has received a major update called Airplanes & Airports. You can find the full list of changes and new features here. Meanwhile, below you can watch the gameplay trailer, presenting the most important novelties. The interiors of aircraft in particular make a good impression.
Original news (October 6)
Airports and planes will soon appear in Mashinky, an independent economic strategy game that is the spiritual heir to MicroProse's classic titles (most notably Transport Tycoon). Jan Zeleny - who is working on the game as a solo developer - revealed that an update adding air transportation will hit the game on October 10 (via X/Twitter). It will include at least 17 aircraft, as well as all the necessary infrastructure and game interface elements.
We wrote about the update back in April, almost two months before the start of internal testing of the new content. The latter, by the way, can already be checked in advance from October 1 as part of the open beta available on Steam. You can gain access to it through "Properties" (visible by right-clicking on the game in the Steam collection) and the "Beta" tab (the "Experimental branch" option).
Mashinky has remained in early access since 2017 and was originally scheduled to be released in full version in 2022. However, the work has heavily extended and the game currently has no release date - which is rather unsurprising given that it's a one-man project. Nevertheless, the developer is slowly but steadily expanding his game, which already includes all the basic mechanics and most of the content (vide: Mashinky's official roadmap).
