Leak Reveals Marvel's Wolverine Release Date on PS5 and More
According to unconfirmed reports, the highly anticipated Marvel's Wolverine from Insomniac Games could debut next year and feature a semi-open world and lots of violence.
The first information about Insomniac Games' involvement in a project about Wolverine appeared back in 2021 with the announcement of Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Unfortunately, since then, we wouldn't find online any detailed information about the game, let alone any videos presenting it. This, in turn, raised suspicions that we will have to wait a long time for the project.
Meanwhile, it turns out that the title may already be at a fairly advanced stage of work. Such information was shared during the Game Mess Mornings podcast by well-known journalist Jeff Grubb. According to his knowledge Marvel's Wolverine may hit the market at the end of 2024. At the same time, he noted that this date is surprising, given that a year earlier (in the fall of 2023) we will see the second installment of Spider-Man from the same developer. The short time between the launches means that creators are also reportedly considering releasing Wolverine in 2025.
"This is quite surprising, but I've heard two different dates. One is the fall of 2024, which would be great, since we're about to get Spider-Man 2. But from what I know, they [the developers - ed. note] are also considering 2025, and that sounds more likely. But who like who, Insomniac would be able to deliver two big AAA titles a little over a year apart," stated Grubb (via GamingBolt).
The journalist also shed some more light on the tone of Marvel's Wolverine. The game will reportedly be very violent. Proof of this is to be found in the special dismemberment mechanics developed by the creators.
Grubb also mentioned that the game is expected to offer semi-open locations in the style of God of War or The Last of Us: Part II.
In addition, from the information he provided, we learned that the developers want to avoid comparisons with the Wolverine portrayed in the FOX films to date. This is because Insomniac Games has its own vision of the iconic hero.
Below we share the first and, so far, only preview footage of Marvel's Wolverine.
