Sony Confirms Marvel's Spider-Man 2's PS5 Release Date

The release date for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which got accidentally revealed by one of the screenwriters yesterday, has been officially confirmed by Sony.

We informed you yesterday about the approximate release date of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which was accidentally revealed by one of the game's screenwriters, Jamie Mayer. Despite its quick removal from the web, we could guess that it was real, and now we have no more doubts about it.

Sony has confirmed today the title will be released on PS5 in the fall of 2023. So we didn't learn anything more than what Mayer revealed. Now we simply know that the information she revealed was true.

It's hard to say whether Sony has decided to confirm the release date of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 after the incident. It's possible that the company had planned to make the announcement today all along, and that Jamie Mayer just got slightly ahead of the facts it by posting the information on her website.

The latter scenario seems a bit more likely. Especially since in recent days rumors have appeared on the web that Sony was preparing for the first presentation of the game (not counting the trailer, which was shown more than a year ago).

As a reminder, let me add that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is being developed with the PlayStation 5 in mind, and there will be no PS4 version - at most we might see a PC release in a few years.
