New Microtransactions in Marvel's Avengers Enraged Gamers

Fans of Marvel's Avengers are furious. Despite the developers' earlier promises, microtransactions that boost character progression rate have been added to the game.

The latest patch for Marvel's Avengers has angered the gamers. It added microtransactions that facilitate progress in the game. After activation they enable us to temporarily increase the rate of gathering experience points and the amount of resources obtained during missions. After they run out, we have to buy them again if we want to regain the effect. Prices of similar attractions range from 100 to 500 credits. A pack of 500 units of this virtual currency costs 4.99 dollars, so it is not cheap.

Such "novelties" alone would upset most players, but in this case they are particularly nasty. Last year, before the game's release, the devs proudly declared that the game will not contain any microtransactions to facilitate the achievement of success. Developers thus broke the promise made to players, so it's no wonder that fans reacted with rage.

Microtransactions facilitating gameplay take up almost half of the window in the store, which further annoys the players.

The game's subforum on Reddit was filled with negative reactions. Players remind the developers of previous declarations, demand to know who made the decision to add such microtransactions, and encourage the boycott of the game.

This situation is exacerbated by the fact that the developers have already decided on controversial changes. Some time ago, character progression was severely slowed down, especially after reaching level 50. Developers explained that the original pace was too fast and even overwhelmed the players. This sounded unconvincing even then, and now the players wonder if these changes were not introduced to encourage users to use microtransactions for experience points boosters that were added recently.

On September 20 Marvel's Avengers launched on Xbox Game Pass. So it is possible that the novelties in the virtual store were introduced in order to earn additional money on subscription players. The launch turned out to be a big success - the game rose to the top ten of the most popular games in the service.
