Update

Lords of the Fallen has received another patch. The developers have informed that patch 1.1.203 fixes the largest number of bugs so far. In addition, the announcement reads:

"We have started to implement more significant performance improvements. This is to free up VRAM to provide additional space for GPUs that are operating at their limits. This process is taking some time, as we are keen to ensure that quality does not suffer."

Original Message

Lords of the Fallen, a soulslike action RPG that represents a reboot of a 2014 production, debuted in a poor technical condition. The developers have already released several updates, and a few hours ago we got the latest of them, marked with the number 1.1.199.

  1. First of all, a number of problems that appeared on AMD graphics cards have been fixed, which should eliminate the most common reasons for game freezes.
  2. Improvements also affected the multiplayer mode. The most important changes relate to the way players are matched - now it's mainly ping that counts, while previously the priority was connection speed. This solution means that we will have to wait longer for the selection of playmates, but once it happens, the gameplay should be smoother and more stable.
  3. The functions of the so-called Orian Defenders, users joining players who were invaded by other users, were temporarily disabled. This aspect of gameplay didn't work quite right and caused confusion. It will return after the developers improve it accordingly.
  4. The developers also have plans to bring back the cross-play option, but for now they need to collect enough data from both PVE and PVP modes to ensure proper stability.
  5. A number of bugs has also been fixed, related to, among other things, bad collision detection, so that in some places the player's character could fall off the map.
  6. The balance of gameplay has also been improved.

Lords of the Fallen was released on October 13. The game is available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.

The game has received good reviews from industry media, but gamers have criticized it for its low level of technical refinement. Recently there have been rumors that the decision to switch from Unreal Engine 4 to UE5 was responsible for the latter.
