Long Gameplay From New Tales from the Borderlands Fueled Fan Fears
New gameplay from New Tales from the Borderlands has debuted online. The footage, however, was not well received by the fans.

- Fans of the series from Gearbox Software praise the visuals, but complain about the poor, unfunny dialogues.
Developers of New Tales from the Borderlands have released a trailer dedicated to the three protagonists and a nearly 20-minute gameplay footage from this upcoming title (both videos available below). The second material enables us to take a look at the sparse gameplay mechanics, as well as assess the humor, for which the series from Gearbox Software is known for.
The humor was definitely not to the liking of Reddit users - but judge for yourself.
New Tales from the Borderlands is like "an old sitcom with the laughs cut out."
Have you already seen the video? Have you formed an opinion? Then let's find out what the the Reddit community has to say about it.
The new engine looks great, but those texts are on such a poor level as in Borderlands 3. The characters seem boring, the dialogues are either really predictable or based on references and random humor.
The reason why the original Tales from the Borderlands turned out to be so good was that the writing was top-notch. I didn't like most of the video," wrote popcar2.
"I'm very happy that someone has given the green light to the next installment of Tales from the Borderlands, but I'm saddened that the game doesn't seem fun or engaging," notes whoopsht.
"I was about to ask, who wrote this? If it's not the creators of the original, I'll only check this game out when it becomes cheaper," declares TheOneWithThePorn12.
"I got to halfway through and stopped watching. The whole thing was written in an uninteresting way (maybe some context would have helped?), but the real problem is the acting. The way the characters move or speak seem forced and unnatural.
Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't be able to get through a title with such voice acting. Especially if it's a work as heavily plot/dialogue oriented as Tales from the Borderlands" notes Morgantuanbeast.
As you can see, Reddit users have not treated the game kindly, but I'll admit that I also didn't smile even once while watching the gameplay.
New Tales from the Borderlands will debut on October 21, 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X and Nintendo Switch - so there's not much time to make tweaks to the script.
