LoL Faces Drastic Change; Patch 12.10 Hits PBE
Update 12.10 is coming soon to League of Legends, and with it we're getting a major gameplay change and, judging by reports from testing, a lot of nerfs.
League of Legends players have barely received a new update, and already they are talking about the next one - in part due to Riot Games, which some time ago announced important changes to the game. The endurance update (numbered 12.10) has already hit the public test server (known as PBE) and has sparked lively discussions among players.
LoL 12.10 - general changes
As a reminder: the developer plans to slightly slow down matches, or more specifically, the speed at which players eliminate their rivals. The developers don't want to completely eliminate instant victories in champion battles, but at the same time they want characters to have to use their entire arsenal to eliminate rivals instead of just one or two abilities, like currently.
Therefore patch 12.10 will not only increase the base health of all champions but also give them more life, armor, and magic resistance points for leveling up.
Wounds (not so) deep
Just this one change will shake up the metagame of LoL but that's not all. Riot Games will also nerf the Grevious Wound effect, which reduces the power of health restoring effects. This weakness will change from 40% or 60% to 30% and 50% respectively, further increasing the lifespan of champions.
At the same time, Riot Games realizes that excessive character endurance boosts can have a negative impact on gameplay. Therefore, the developer is also preparing other changes. This includes increasing the damage dealt by towers and Baron Nashor (a powerful mob present on Summoner's Rift), as well as a long list of reinforcements and, most importantly, narfed champions.
LoL 12.10 in testing is a long list of nerfs
The list of buffs and nerfs was posted by, among others. Spideraxe30, moderator of the popular Surrender at 20 and Ross from Saikoi Apparel. There is no point in describing all of them here. Patch 12.10 is still at the testing stage and many changes may not make it to the final version of the update.
Nevertheless, it is possible to see a clear trend in the current form of the patch. Riot Games has nerfed many effects that restore health and grant armor or shield, including life steal, all-vampirism, etc. In some cases, the differences are minor (literally 1%), but even that could prove to be a major nerf.
Summoner spells, as well as runes or items, have become the developers' target. Most of these changes should prevent the champions - although more durable - from becoming indestructible.
Once again we emphasize: patch 12.10 remains on the test server and a lot can change before its release. The durability update will hit League of Legends on May 25th.
In addition to balance improvements, the patch will introduce new skins (High Noon), icons, emotes, and refreshed visual effects on some champions (including Nami, as you can see in the video below). Let's hope that Riot Games will also take care of... interesting bugs that have come to light in recent tournament play.
