At last year's The Game Awards ceremony it was announced that the work of Kojima Productions - Death Stranding - will receive a live-action adaptation. At the time, we learned that Hideo Kojima and Alex Lebovic (producer of Barbarian) from Hammerstone Studios.

Unfortunately, the matter has since gone quiet, and we won't find any new information about the project on the web. The breakthrough on the movie came only now, almost exactly a year after the aforementioned announcement.

It turns out that the adaptation of the hit Sony production will be handled by studio A24, famous for its well-reviewed movies. In order not to be abaseless, it suffices to mention that the company's credits include such titles as Ex Machina, The Lighthouse, Everything, Everywhere, All at Once or The Whale.

"It's official: we've teamed up with Kojima Productions for a feature-length adaptation of Hideo Kojima's acclaimed video game, Death Stranding," reads the announcement from A24 on X.

Hideo Kojima also addressed the topic of cooperation with A24, posting this comment on the official website of Kojima Productions:

"A24 was established about 10 years ago, their presence is unique in the industry, there is no other studio like it. The movies they provide to the world are of high quality and very innovative. I was attracted to their works and they even inspired my own projects. Their approach to storytelling coincides with what Kojima Productions has been doing for the past 8 years."

The famous game designer added that the cinematic Death Stranding will be more than a simple adaptation.

"There are many "game adaptations of movies," but what we are creating is not just a direct translation of the game. Our intention is that the audience will not include only game fans, but that our movie will be for anyone who loves cinema. We are creating a universe of Death Stranding that has never been seen before, attainable only through the medium of movie," we read further.

For our part, we can't help but be patient and await further reports on the work on the Death Stranding movie.
