It's been a week since The Game Awards 2023 gala, so it's high time for a recap of the event. The host of the ceremony and originator of the event, Geoff Keighley, revealed on social media a handful of numbers that prove that this year's awards ceremony was the most-watched broadcast in the event's ten-year history.

  1. The Game Awards 2023 ceremony recorded a total of - through all supported channels - 118 million streams worldwide (a stream is defined as a single launch of a broadcast by a user). This result is 15% better than a year ago.
  2. On YouTube Gaming, the event recorded around 900,000 streams, an increase of 53% over last year. And on YouTube as a whole, the number of streams hit 1.7 million - a 35% increase over 2022. Keighley noted that on YouTube, the show was presented through some 4,000 channels.
  3. As for Twitch, The Game Awards gala was broadcast by 13,680 creators, 24% more than previously. At peak, the event was followed on Twitch by 1.94 million viewers, also increasing the total viewing time of the event by 10% over 2022.
  4. Geoff Keighley also mentioned the results of Twitch Predicts The Game Awards. The new initiative recorded about 4 million views, with a maximum of 330,000 followers at any one time.
  5. In conclusion, the presenter announced that The Game Awards 2023 was shown by a total of about 17 thousand channels (YouTube and Twitch). Let's point out - the ceremony was also broadcast on in other social networks, as well as on Steam, among others.

This year's edition of the most important awards in the game industry went quietly, although it was not without slight controversy. After last year's long speech by Christopher Judge (the voice of Kratos), the organizers decided to make sure the winners at this year's eventdo not take too long.

Recall also that the title of game of the year was won by Baldur's Gate 3 from Larian Studios. In addition to this honor, the game won in four other categories. Also doing well was Alan Wake 2, which was recognized in a total of three categories.
