Little Nightmares 2 Concludes Series; Tarsier Begins Work on New IP
Tarsier Studio announced that it is ending its adventure with the Little Nightmares franchise, currently owned by Bandai Namco. The developers will focus on a completely new IP.
- Little Nightmares 2 will be the last installment of the series, which was confirmed by the head of Tarsier;
- The devs are busy developing a new IP under the wings of Embracer Group.
Little Nightmares 2 will be the last installment of the series developed by Tarsier. Devs confirmed in an interview for IGN the information originally provided by the studio's owner, Embracer Group.
Lars Wingefors, the head of Embracer Group, revealed a few days ago during an investor conference that the Tarsier team will be developing a completely new IP. He congratulated them on the success of their latest game, although he noted that due to the fact that Bandai Namco owns the rights to Little Nightmares, it doesn't have much influence on his company's financial results.
Andreas Johnsson, head of Tarsier, confirmed Wingefors' words.
"For the last 6 years, our mission at Tarsier Studios has been to create mesmerizing worlds. Little Nightmares was our first attempt and were a huge success. [...] That being said, it is bitter-sweet to announce that we are leaving the world of Little Nightmares behind us. Little Nightmares will always be dear to us at the studio. Since being acquired by the Embracer Group in December 2019, it is now time for us to embark on a new chapter, create new IPs and explore new worlds."
Those who have become attached to Little Nightmares will be sad to hear the news. It is not said that Bandai Namco will abandon the idea of developing another game in the universe, but without Tarsier at the helm, fans may be skeptical about this idea.
