Leaked Gameplay From Abandoned CoD: Black Ops 4 Story Campaign
An interesting video was uploaded to the web, showing gameplay from the abandoned single-player campaign of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
The 2018 installment of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was an unusual part of the series due to the lack of a single player campaign. Instead, a battle royale Blackout mode was offered. In addition, there were classic PvP clashes and co-op zombie mode. However, there were rumors that this was not always the case. Now, thanks to a leaked video from the early version of the project, we know that initially Treyarch was working on a traditional story campaign as well.
The video shows two minutes of gameplay from a very early version of the game. There are a lot of textures and effects missing, but the whole thing still gives a good idea of what the campaign in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 would offer. It looks like a classic solo mode for this series, so it would probably be a short but pleasant story with highly cinematic challenges.
The material was provided by a fan known as ForeverDexus. He also published another video from the early version of the game, showing the capabilities of the engine.
Eventually, it was decided to abandon the story campaign, although we suspect that some of its elements were adapted to multiplayer modes in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. The game was released in October 2018 on PCs, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It received a warm welcome and turned out to be a big commercial hit.
Focusing exclusively on multiplayer didn't stop the game from becoming successful, but the next installment, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, didn't follow the path set by its predecessor and offered a traditional solo campaign. It seems that Treyarch doesn't want to repeat this experiment either, because this year's installment of the series will offer a story mode, according to reports.
