Last Epoch - Experience and Death Penalty Explained

Do you lose experience by dting in Last Epoch and is there an xp penalty when fighting high-level enemies? That's what you'll find out in this guide.

Last Epoch is an early access hack & slash from Eleventh Hour Games, which at first glance may be associated with titles such as Diablo 3 or Path of Exile. Although games of this type share many common features, they differ slightly from each other, which can be seen primarily in the mechanics. Thanks to this guide you will learn how the experience penalty works when fighting enemies and when our character dies.

Death penalty in Last Epoch

While traversing the vast game world, we will meet encounter enemies on our way, from monsters that do not pose a particular threat, through hordes of dangerous enemies, to powerful bosses. This means that it is easy to die in the game. Fortunately after our character is defeated, he does not lose the experience points he has earned, thus in Last Epoch there is no experience penalty for death.

Experience penalty in Last Epoch - gaining experience.

In the game you can earn experience points in various ways, but the most common way is by fighting enemies. The higher the level of the monster, the more exp you can earn for it. In Last Epoch, however, it is worth bearing in mind whether the difference between the level of our character and the rival is not more than five points. For example:

If we are level 10 and opponents on the map are level 20, we will gain as much experience for them as for rivals who are level 15. This means that we can gain a maximum of xp defeating enemies 5 levels higher than our character. What's more, there is no point in attacking much more powerful opponents than ourselves.
