Hideo Kojima Confirms OD Will be a Strange and Unconventional Game
Bit by bit, Hideo Kojima has revealed what we can expect from OD, his upcoming game, which was officially announced at the recent The Game Awards.
It will soon be a month since we first saw the trailer of OD, which serves as a preview of the next game from Hideo Kojima. The creator decided today to give us a little insight into what, more or less, this unconventional game developed in cooperation with Xbox Game Studios, will be.
- On X, Kojima posted a message, in which he mentions previous projects "ahead of their time," without naming them directly. From the context, however, it can be inferred that he is referring to, among others, Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding.
- Most important, however, is the third game mentioned by the artist. He describes it as the most experimental, which faced many objections within the team and the company when it was created. The game in question is Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hand released on the Game Boy Advance in 2003.
- Let's point out that Boktai was truly unique in that it required sunlight (real, not in-game) to play. Without daylight, it was impossible to play.
Upcoming OD is supposed to be different in this very sense, as Hideo Kojima wrote. Recall that the Japanese creator previously described the game as "a new type of entertainment medium."
Finally, we should add that vigilant viewers even spotted a subtle reference to Silent Hill in the first trailer, and as we already know, OD is also supposed to be a horror game. For now, nothing is known about the plot of the emerging game or its release date.
