Last Tuesday, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the anticipated RPG from Warhorse studio, was released. The game turned out to be a hit, selling over a million copies in the first 24 hours after its launch. Now, thanks to an article in Seznam Zpravy, we have learned more about the financial side of this success.

  1. The head of Warhorse Studios, Daniel Vavra, revealed that the budget for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was a billion Czech crowns, which is about $41 million. For comparison, the development of The Witcher 3 (excluding expansions) cost almost twice as much, amounting to $75 million.
  2. So for a modern, big RPG, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was relatively cheap. As a result, the costs were already covered on day one.
  3. The first installment has sold over 8 million copies to date and analysts expect that the sequel will do even better.

We have only just now learned the exact budget for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Earlier, Daniel Vavra only revealed that the development of the game was five times cheaper than the first Death Stranding. The players then calculated that KDC2 cost 32-36 million dollars. So they were quite close.

Daniel Vavra confirmed that work is underway on a physical version of the soundtrack (most likely referring to vinyl). For Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, more than 10 hours of music were composed, making it potentially the longest soundtrack ever created for a single entertainment production.
