Invincible is not just a hit Prime Video show, as it is a series based on comic books written by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley. They were the first, and they are the basis for the animated production that the world went crazy over, making the comics themselves even more popular.

Does Invincible belong to the Marvel or DC universe?

As is well known, many superhero comics have come out of the Marvel and DC imprints. These are brands best known for series about heroes with superhuman abilities, so fans of Invincible may wonder if this series belongs to Marvel or DC.

The answer is it belongs to neither – Invincible does not belong to the Marvel or DC universes. The comics were published by Image Comics and they belong to the Image Universe, which also includes the famous Spawn, as well as the incarnations of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It's not as famous a universe as Marvel or DC, but it has interesting and well-known heroes in its ranks that readers have been following for years.

The Image Universe serves as a venue for occasional crossovers, they are not particularly frequent, but they do happen and during them we can see the collaboration of characters coming from different series. Crossovers involving Invincible characters include Image United, The Invincible War and Crossover.

So, Invincible is a comic book series from Image Comics published from January 2003 to February 2018. As for the TV show, season 3 is currently out on Prime Video.
