Yes, coop campaign is possible in Space Marine 2. However, you have to complete the first mini adventure. It takes about 30 minutes. It is a tutorial. After it, you will have access to a hub, big ship, where you can pick your missions. At this point you will be able to send invitation to your friends via a code or input their password to join them. There are instructions in the upper right corner of the screen. If you use mouse and keyboard, press Y for the multiplayer menu to appear.
However, if you are one of people who would like to go through campaign solo, you can do that. As missions are completed in the teams of 3, you will get bot companions. They do not have equal skills to real people, but they will revive you if you need it, and on most occasions, AI is a good distraction for enemies, providing decent support. Of course, if you pick high level of difficulty, the fight may be tougher. Players believe that on Veteran level difference in abilities is especially evident, and bots are not very helpful.
