The Sims 4 Updates and Future Plans During Today's Inside Maxis Stream [UPDATED]

It's possible that we won't be getting any major DLCs for The Sims 4 this year. Instead, two updates will be coming to the game, which will likely be discussed in more detail during today's Inside Maxis broadcast.

In a nutshell:

  1. There are many indications that no large add-ons will be released forThe Sims 4 at the end of this year;
  2. We'll get two updates for the base game instead;
  3. Today the devs will host the Inside Maxis stream.

Update

As announced, the Inside Maxis broadcast took place yesterday. The first part of the stream focused on the contributions of the Latino community to the development of The Sims 4. The second segment was dedicated to the update that will come to the game next week. It is supposed to introduce scenarios that we will be able to perform.

After the update, in the game's main menu we will see a new icon that will enable us to start a new scenario. At the time of the release it will be possible to play it only with a new family (however, the creators plan to allow playing this mode also with existing saves).

At the beginning two scenarios will be available: Making Money and Finding Love After a Breakup. More will be added later on, and some of them will be time-limited. When playing this mode, our task will be to complete the set challenges. For example, in Making Money we'll start the game with 0 simoleons, and the goal will be to earn a million - no matter by what means.

Original message

In late September, Maxis released a roadmap for The Sims 4, titled Season of Selves. It presents the title's development plans for October, November and December this year. What is striking about it is the lack of major DLCs scheduled for late 2021. According to the developers' latest words, this may turn out to be true. Instead of add-ons, we will get two updates for the base game, which will probably be discussed in more detail during today's Inside Maxis broadcast.

When asked by one of the fans about the updated roadmap and new additions, the community manager responsible for The Sims series answered only that the Season of Selves covers the last months of this year. So it can be easily deduced that we will have to wait a little longer for larger DLCs. This is an unprecedented situation, because for about four years now, the biggest additions for The Sims 4 were released either in the middle and at the end of the year.

This situation does not mean, however, that The Sims 4 will not get new content. There are two updates planned for the basic game. However, we do not know what they will introduce. More information on this may be known today. Today at 11 AM PT the devs will hots another broadcast from the Inside Maxis series, in which the creators present information related to the series. You can watch it via Twitch.

It's worth remembering that the Season of Selves did not pass completely without DLCs. In fact, in early October we received two new kits: Fashion Street and Incheon Arrivals.
