Deep Rock Galactic Will Get a Free Battle Pass
Further development of Deep Rock Galactic will take place in seasonal formula. Interestingly, however, the accompanying battle pass will be available for free.
- The update will introduce a new enemy faction along with a unique mission type and additional weapons;
- A season pass will be made available, in which we will be able to unlock one hundred levels - each offering different rewards;
- All season pass items will be obtainable by other means after the season ends.
Ghost Ship Games follows in the footsteps of other developers and has just announced the first season of Deep Rock Galactic. However, contrary to current standards, the accompanying season pass will be completely free. What's more, the developers don't even intend to rush us. Even after the end of the season, all items that can be unlocked during it will be obtainable in other ways.
Season 01: Rival Incursion, as this is the full name of the new stage in the game's history, will debut on November 4, this year on PC. Versions for Xbox consoles and Game Pass will be released two weeks later, on November 18. This delay is due to the fact that the update will first debut on Steam in an early experimental version, intended only for those who wish to participate in the tests.
Season 01 will bring a new enemy faction to the game, in the form of robots from a rival mining company. Along with them we will see the debut of a mission type called Industrial Sabotage, where players will venture into a rival's base and steal a data disc. Players will first have to neutralize the force fields protecting the treasure and then battle a new boss. In the clashes we'll use four new weapon types.
As part of the pass, we'll be able to complete quests to unlock one hundred levels of progression, each of which will offer unique rewards such as the ability to freely select an item from the cosmetic item trees, sets of credits and crafting materials, new poses celebrating wins, or a weapon blueprint pack.
Coinciding with the start of the season, the paid DLC Rival Tech Pack will be released, but it will only contain cosmetic items inspired by the style of the new enemy faction.
Deep Rock Galactic debuted in early access on February 28, 2018 on PC (in Steam Early Access) and the Xbox One console (as part of Xbox Game Preview). The game turned out to be quite a success. Earlier this year, the devs boasted that sales exceeded 2 million copies.
