IKEA Establishes a Business Unit for Smart Home Technology
The Swedish company has announced that it has established a new business unit to deal with smart home technology. There has already been a project for this before, but from now on IKEA plans to invest much more money in it.
It's quite obvious that IKEA has been increasingly serious about intelligent home technology lately. An example of this can be speakers that appeared in the store's offer last month. In addition to voice commands, they are designed to make it easy for the devices to blend into the interior design. In addition, on the official IKEA website you can find a bookmark entirely dedicated to smart home. You will find there the aforementioned speakers, intelligent lighting or induction chargers.
In addition, the Swedish company has just announced that it has officially created a new, separate business unit to work on technology and smart home devices. The division dates back to 2012 when IKEA launched a project to enrich home life by incorporating digital components and technologies into well-known appliances and solutions. Since then, several new smart home products have been developed, and now IKEA has decided to invest even more in the area.
At IKEA we want to continue to offer products for a better life at home for the many people going forward. In order to do so we need to explore products and solutions beyond conventional home furnishing.
In simple terms, it just means that IKEA from now on has a group of people who will deal exclusively with the implementation of new smart home technologies. It is quite possible that in a dozen or so years, each of us will be able to control our home by means of voice or an application on the phone.
