I.G.I. - We're Going In confirmed to be in development
A successful tactical shooter series started in 2000 with Project I.G.I. is coming back with the third part. The original developer confirmed that I.G.I. - We're Going In is officially in the works.
As expected, another installment in the series of tactical shooters I.G.I. is really in the works, claims Norwegian news media website Pressfire (thanks, PC Gamer!). This one is going to be called I.G.I. – We're Going In, a twist on the original title that stands for I’m Going In, which may suggest some form of co-op gameplay. The game’s developer – Norwegian studio Artplant founded by former members of the original I.G.I. team at Interloop Studios – says that the third part is going to retain “the freedom the series has become known for”. We also know that the protagonist of the first two games, SAS officer David Jones, is going to return in I.G.I. – We're Going In.
Released back in 2000, Project I.G.I. was quite a successful tactical shooter, which offered large maps and much freedom when it came to fullfilment of mission objectives. Thanks to these factors as well as its emphasis on realism and engaging gameplay, the game gained a faithful following of fans and in 2003 it received a sequel called I.G.I. 2: Covert Strike. This title, however, was criticized for not-so-great graphics and poor AI, and so the series was abandoned for several years, until now.
For now there is no information on what platforms I.G.I. – We're Going In will be released for and when it is planned to be out.
