How to Get Shard of Agony in Diablo 4. Beat Grigoire Known as Gregoire
Shard of Agony is an item you need to fight Duriel in Diablo 4. In this guide, we explain how to obtain this material.
Duriel in Diablo 4 is the only boss who drops extremely valuable Uber Unique Items. This makes him an attractive target to farm. However, it’s not so easy, as Duriel can only be summoned with the use of rare drops from two other end-game bosses, Echo of Varshan and Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint (known by fans as Gregoire), who also require specific materials to be spawned. In this guide, you will learn how to get Shard of Agony, one of the items needed for the multi-step process of summoning Duriel.
How to Get Shard of Agony in Diablo 4. Beat Grigoire Known as Gregoire
The Shard of Agony, one of the two materials for Duriel summoning, is obtained from fighting Grigoire, the Galvanic Saint. Each fight with Duriel requires 2 Shards of Agony (as well as 2 Mucus Slicked Egg from Echo of Varshan). However, before you can start farming them, you need to get items to summon Grigoire, who is also mistakenly called Gregoire by many fans.
In order to summon Grigoire you will need Living Steel, which drops from a specific chest in Helltide. We explained how to get this material here.
Once you have a big enough stack of Living Steel, go to Penitent Hall to spawn the boss. Check out our guide to find out the location of the Hall and how to activate the Light Touched Altar to fight Grigoire and get Shards of Agony. Keep in mind that Shard of Agony drops only in World Tier 4, so you will need 5 Living Steel for one fight with Grigoire. The boss is guaranteed to drop the Shard, but only the player who summoned him will get the item – so you can’t hasten your farming process by joining others in co-op.
