How to Fix Low Density Demand in Cities Skylines 2
Do you experience a very high demand for low density zones in Cities Skylines 2? We will tell you how to fix it.
After many years, Cities Skylines received a sequel. The game is not perfect, and some mechanics and technical issues should be polished in the near future. One of the things which puzzles many players is a high demand for low density zones in Cities Skylines 2. It seems that citizens can’t be satisfied in this field. The question arises – can you fix it? Yes, but not entirely. Let’s talk about it.
Low Density Demand in Cities Skylines 2 Explained
As you probably know, in the larger scale, in Cities Skylines 2 you do not build individual buildings but zones. There are 4 main types of areas:
- Residential.
- Commercial,
- Industrial,
- Office.
At the bottom of the screen, you can check the demand for each zone. Residential areas are divided into low, medium and high density. It seems that one of those is much preferable than others – low. Players are confused by this fact, as this demand is very high. Fans disagree on whether the mechanics work as they should or whether they are underdeveloped.
How to Fix Low Density Demand in Cities Skylines 2
While it is difficult, you may do something about low density demand:
- You can build low density housing. This zone should satisfy the demand for a little while, but it is not the best option, as it takes a lot of building terrain and offers very little living space.
- Build medium and high density areas and ignore low density demand. If your town is attractive enough, even if you do not satisfy low density demand, people will move in. Just make sure that you will have living space for them, and their other needs are taken care of.
- Increasing taxes will also work (watch out not to make them too high). If taxes are high enough, citizens will be forced to live in medium and high density zones. To do so, go to the City Economy tab and pick Taxation column. Now, adjust Residential slider.
- Concentrate on education. Students prefer medium and high density zones, as they are cheaper. Building various schools should even the demand slider.
