ASKA throws you into the life of a Viking venturing out to build a thriving settlement in a vast procedurally generated world. You'll gather resources, craft tools, and brave the wilderness to ensure your survival. If you want to craft powerful weaponry and armor, iron is essential. Read on to learn how to find this mineral and what to do when your mine dries out.

How to Find Cave in Aska

Caves are vital structures in ASKA. With only one cave per map, locating it can be challenging. However, once your village is efficiently organized and food production is running smoothly, you should begin searching for its entrance.

A cave entrance can only be built on a specific rock formation. While exploring, press Z to scan the area. If a large rock cluster highlights, like in the picture above, you’re in luck! That’s the spot where you can construct an entrance and explore the cave’s interior.

How to Find Iron in Aska

Iron deposits in ASKA are exclusively located in caves, and in the Early Access there are only three such deposits available. If these deposits run dry this could mean trouble, as iron is crucial for everything. Upgrading buildings (which decay over time) requires nails, and crafting better tools and weapons depends on it. Conservation is key!

Some enemies can occasionally drop iron. If you find yourself low on this mineral and your mines are empty, defeating enemies like Draugrs is the only way to farm it.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
