How to Defeat Incarnation of Agony in PoE

It would be inappropriate to call Path of Exile a diablo-clone with how popular it became. There are multitudes of players waiting for a new league to start every quarter. All of them introduce new, intricate mechanics for fans to explore. The recent one, Affliction, debuted just recently adding new challenges for exiles. One of them materialised itself in the form of a new mini boss called The Incarnation of Agony. If you are driven to despair while trying to defeat it, we have gathered some tips that may prove useful while trying to achieve this feat.

Defeating Incarnation of Agony in PoE

While venturing through the Viridian Wildwood in Path of Exile, you might be surprised by a new mini boss. Incarnation of Agony can randomly appear and attack you stacking debuff called Aura of Death. As it stacks, it will prevent you from healing or recovering shield. That’s not all, because as soon as you attack it, the enemy teleports away making it very elusive, especially for melee builds.

So, what can be done in order to survive an encounter with that menace? There are several methods that you can try:

1. Use Warped Timepiece to make the Aura of Death expire faster and prevent it from stacking.
2. Place a Decoy Totem as soon as the Incarnation of Agony attacks you. It will target the totem giving you time to react.
3. Summon a Golem with Meat Shield Support gem equipped. That will allow you to put your foe’s attention on your minion.
4. Use “hit and run” strategy. It might take a while and is risky, but it’s your best bet if you are not able to deal any ranged damage.

Even despite using the tactics above, this enemy can still prove very challenging. Make sure that you are properly equipped and not under leveled. Building up your elemental damage resistance also can’t be neglected, as Aura of Death deals every damage type over time. Good luck!
