New Hogwarts Legacy Trailer Presents Immersive Features on PS5
The new trailer of Hogwarts Legacy focuses on the immersive features offered by the PS5 console, and mainly its controller, DualSense. This, according to the developers, is supposed to be an extension of the virtual wand.
A video from Hogwarts Legacy was released, showcasing features of the PS5 and DualSense controller serving to enhance our immersion as we explore the virtual world of Harry Potter. In addition, Chandler Wood, Community Manager at Avalanche Software (the game's developer), detailed the features on the PlayStation blog.
Wand extension
DualSense's adaptive triggers and haptic vibrations are designed to provide an engaging tactile experience during activities such as crushing ingredients with a mortar and pestle during potions lesson, or flying on a hippogriff. They are also designed to perform well in combat:
"Feel the resistance in your fingertips as you cast each spell (...). Thanks to haptic vibrations that provide a direct connection between the DualSense controller and your wand, your spells will feel unique."
"These effects have been specifically designed for the right side of the controller so that the DualSense becomes an extension of the wand that you hold in the game. And when you deflect a spell with the Protego spell, you'll feel the sizzle of magic being absorbed by the Shield Spell."
Let there be light
DualSense's backlight will dynamically react to spells cast or damage received. When the player is not engaged in a duel, the backlight will flash in the color of the Hogwarts house to which the character belongs:
- Blue and brown for Ravenclaw,
- Scarlet and gold for Gryffindor,
- Green and silver for Slytherin,
- Yellow and black for Hufflepuff.
Visuals & Sound
After launching the game on PS5 we get a choice of two graphic modes. The first prioritizes performance, while the second prioritizes visuals.
By default The Hogwarts Legacy will run in 4K resolution on Sony's current-gen console. AudioTech's Tempest 3D system, on the other hand, is expected to provide a high-end listening experience.
Release date and platforms
Finally, I remind you that in addition to the PS5, the game is also expected to hit PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in the run-up to this year's Christmas holidays.
