Blizzard Releases Sizable Update for Heroes of the Storm; MOBA Revives

Do you still remember Blizzard's MOBA game? It turns out that the developer has just remembered it. Heroes of the Storm received a new update after a long hiatus, and it's possible that this is the start of something bigger.

Heroes of the Storm is a MOBA game that Blizzard released back in 2015. Popularity of League of Legends and other games of this type was great at the time, and quite a few developers tried to create their own games in this genre. However, few were more successful in this topic. Blizzard's game from 2022 remained in the so-called "maintenance mode", or in other words - the servers worked, but nothing happened.

With Activision Blizzard's acquisition by Microsoft there was a lot of speculation about the possible return of some franchises. Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft Gaming, has even reported that the company is able to provide support to those studios that would like to bring a brand back to the market. It is possible that we are now seeing the first results.

The latest update to Heroes of the Storm is now available, and players can test it on dedicated "Public Test Realm" servers. On the game's official website the developers also thanked their community for future feedback, which will ultimately shape the game.

The update is expected to bring key changes to the game's balance and interface, and fix numerous bugs. The full list of changes can be found here. In the long run, we'll probably find out whether these changes are just a preliminary step for further work on the game, and whether the brand will again be actively supported, or whether we were just dealing with a one-off.
