Healers in WoW are Too Strong - That's Why Blizzard Nerfed Them All by 25%
Blizzard has another problem with healers in World of Warcraft. And it chose the same solution it used just before Dragonflight's release.
Blizzard found that healers have it too easy on Mythic. Therefore with update 10.1, Embers of Neltharion, player stamina will be raised by 25%, as will the physical and magic damage of enemies. In a recent news Blizzard outlined its stance on the issue and explained why this was done:
When damage mitigation abilities and healing are too strong relative to player health, the only way to threaten players is to make enemy damage very high and spiky. If healers can very quickly top off their teammates and mana isn’t a limiting factor, enemies have to be tuned to have the capacity to do burst damage that kills players before healers can react. That isn’t very satisfying gameplay. Increasing player health and tuning enemy ability damage appropriately gives players more time to react to incoming damage, and it makes players’ choices about cooldowns and mana management more meaningful.
At the same time, Blizzard has decided to increase the percentage of healing skills of tanks and damage dealers (but not all of them - for example, hunters have had their healing by Rejuvenating Wind nerfed, and mages have been omitted altogether).
Negative fan reaction
The vast majority of players reacted negatively to the information.
- In their opinion, Blizzard is once again making life miserable for healers, because it noticed that they are having too much fun.
- In addition to this, the increase in health in players is supposed to make healers have even more life to heal, since their healing skills remained unchanged.
Interesting example was given on Wowhead by user Musko, who noted what happened years ago in the Rift. There, too, healers healed too much, which ended up with huge damage from monsters. If a player didn't have a full life - it didn't matter if it was 5% or 75% - they still died.
In World of Warcraft however, the developers are not going to such extremes. They themselves have indicated that this type of design is not good for the game, although they can always bring such a situation in the future.
This is the second similar change in a year and a half. Perhaps due to player feedback, Blizzard will abandon the changes, although it seems unlikely, since there is not much time left until the update's release (Embers of Neltharion will enter the servers on May 2).
