End of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite - New Game by Pokemon GO Devs Will be Shut Down

The end of the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, the mobile AR production from the creators of Pokemon GO, has been announced. The servers will be shut down in less than three months.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. Mobile game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will stop working on January 31, 2021;
  2. The title will be available for download only until December 6, 2021;
  3. There are no plans for refunds of money spent on the purchase of virtual currency.

We have bad news for fans Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. Niantic, the studio responsible for the game, has announced that the game will be closed. Players will be able to continue playing only until January 31, next year. After this date, the servers of the project will be shut down, and without them, fun will no longer be possible.

If you want to try the game before it is deleted, you must hurry up, especially that Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be removed from distribution on App Store, Google Play and Galaxy Store on December 6th. Downloading the game after that date will become impossible, both for new and old users.

The creators have no intention of refunding the money spent by users on virtual currency, so it must be used in the game until January 31, 2022. We will have plenty of opportunities to do so, because the devs ensure that many attractions are planned for the last months of the game. It is worth adding that also the ability to purchase virtual currency will be turned off on December 6.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite debuted in June 2019. The game is available on iOS and Android systems and uses a free-to-play model with microtransactions. Before the release, expectations for the game were high. Harry Potter is still a very popular brand, and Niantic is, after all, known for Pokemon GO, the world's most popular AR game.

It is possible that the world created by J.K. Rowling loses too much of its appeal when the action takes place outside the school of magic. In HP: Wizards Unite the players did not take the role of students and the game failed. The film series Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is doing very well in the cinemas (although the second part earned much less than the first), but it is far from the results of the last Harry Potter movies.

Now it remains for us to wait for Hogwarts Legacy. It will be an RPG that enables us to play as the students of the school, so we're curious how the title will do on the market. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a bit longer for the project, because its debut was delayed to next year and we don't know exactly when it will be released.

While waiting for Hogwarts Legacyit's worth going back to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - especially with mods

Instead of waiting idly for Hogwarts Legacy it's worth remembering the first game based on this license - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, especially since several mods have recently become available to improve the title and make it more enjoyable to play on modern PCs.

DirectX11 Renderer provides high resolution widescreen support and improved effects, ESRGAN Upscale Pack tweaks textures and the Mouse Fix and Strafing mod fixes the controls. If you have trouble running the game on new operating systems, the Windows 10 Fix should help.
