Halo Devs Denounce Rumors of Being Taken Off the Series; Fans Disappointed
Studio 343 Industries has dismissed rumors that it has been taken off the Halo series. Many fans are disappointed by this declaration.
A few days ago, the declaration of large layoffs at Microsoft made waves across the web, which affected, among others, the devs of the Halo series, 343 Industries. Shortly thereafter, speculation began that the team would be removed from the development of games in the universe. However, these reports turned out to be untrue.
- Rumors of 343 Industries being taken off active game development surfaced on Thursday. According to them, the studio would stop creating its own games and instead take up the task of supervising other developers working on projects from the Halo universe.
- These rumors became so prominent that on Saturday 343 Industries was forced to debunk them.
- On the brand's subReddit there is no shortage of disappointed players. Many of them believe that 343 Industries has so far served us mostly disappointments. Such fans hoped that handing the brand over to a new studio would have been a better idea and would give the series a chance to regain the position it had when Bungie created it.
Recall that in recent layoffs 343 Industries was to lose about 60 developers, including a large part of the team responsible for the campaign in Halo Infinite. "Insiders " claim, that the story DLC never went beyond the concept phase, so even without these reductions there was unlikely to be such an addition. However, the question is how this will affect the next installment of the franchise.
It is worth mentioning that 343 Industries is currently engaged in the second year of development of the network mode of Halo: Infinite (Year 2). One of the developers has already confirmed that the studio will soon start planning Year 3. So at least the network mode of the latest installment of the brand is safe, even if the pace of its development leaves a lot to be desired.
Recall that Halo Infinite was released at the end of 2021. The game is available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X, as well as through Game Pass.
