Hacker Suspected of GTA 6 Leak Sent to Youth Detention Center
A teenager who was arrested over leaked GTA 6 footage has been sent to a youth detention center. There are also some highly controversial rumors about the game's skyrocketing budget.
Teenage hacker suspected of attacking Rockstar Games resulting in leak of materials from Grand Theft Auto VI, was sent to a youth detention center.
- The hacker has pleaded guilty to violating the terms of his remaining free on bail. He denies, however, that he used the computer for wicked purposes.
- It is not known whether the bail was set in a case related to GTA 6. This is because the teenager is also accused of attacks on Microsoft, Nvidia and Uber. He carried out some of them as a member of the hacker group Lapsus$. Separate proceedings are underway in these cases.
- Recall that in March London police arrested seven people from Lapsus$, among others, for attacks on Microsoft. The similarity of these actions to the recent hacks of Uber and Rockstar Games servers caught the attention of the FBI and led to further arrests, including that of the the aforementioned 17-year-old, which took place last month.
- The scale of the group's activities is best demonstrated by the fact that one of its leaders, just 16 years old, has amassed a fortune in bitcoin worth $13 million.
GTA 6's budget is $2 billion?
The hacker behind the Grand Theft Auto 6, leak allegedly claims that the the game's budget is $2 billion. However, such information is hard to believe. Even taking into account the fact that the game is supposed to be in development since 2014, this amount is far too high. There has also been speculation that the 2 billion may refer to all costs, including marketing, distribution and planned post-release development, including support for the online module. Such an option is more realistic, although even then the amoount seems astronomical.
