Guardians of Orion, a spiritual successor to Orion: Prelude, will launch as a Steam Early Access game on 1 December 2015. Unlike its predecessor (which was an FPS), this will be a top-down sci-fi shooter with 4-player co-op, but of course, dinosaurs will be returning as enemies. This time Trek Industries decided for the Early Access program, instead of fixing the game after its official release, as it was the case with Orion: Prelude. That title became infamous for being extremely bad, which resulted in overwhelming criticism. But after three years of support from developers, the game finally became quite good, and received many positive reviews on Steam.
For the first two weeks since the launch all owners of a copy of Orion: Prelude on Steam will be eligible for a 50% discount for Guardians of Orion (normally priced $19.99). And by the way, Orion: Prelude is currently available on Steam for only $0.39. The developers say Guardians of Orion will remain in Early Access for 12 months growing bigger and bigger over time.
